As part of efforts aimed at developing trade and increase area of economic cooperation and to address issues affecting bilateral and economic relationship between Nigeria and Malaysia, the Nigeria-Malaysia Business Council, an independent non-profit service organization was setup in 2006 to promote leadership and bilateral business partnerships.

Nigeria-Malaysia Business Council (NMBC) mission is to help private / public sector leadership in trade & industry, to foster strategic capabilities through the interchange of ideas, information and knowledge leading to trade and investment between the two countries. As a result of the activities of the NMBC, various Nigerian firms have increased trade and setup partnership in manufacturing and services in Nigeria with a number of their Malaysian counterparts.

Memberships of NMBC are mostly corporate organizations wholly owned by Nigerians and some with joint ownership with Malaysian Partners. Our members cover various sectors of the economy including Manufacturing, Banking and other financial services, Oil & Gas, Lifestyle, telecommunication, etc.

Over the years, the affairs of the Business Council have been piloted by members of the Governing Council with varied exposure to Management and Business Development, Capacity Building and Entrepreneurs of repute. They have served variously as Board Member Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) for Business Education Services & Training and as Consultant with Paris Chamber of Commerce Paris / Maison de L’ Afrique France, amongst others.

Since its inception, the Business Council has maintained close ties with notable institutions in Malaysia, most especially, MATRADE (Malaysian Trade Office) and the High Commission of Malaysia in Nigeria.
